Ireland can learn from Virginia’s business know-how – Calleary

Ireland should take the lead from the American state of Virginia in the cutting of red-tape surrounding business set-up.

That’s according to Dara Calleary TD, member of the Joint Oireachtas Enterprise Committee. He raised the issue with the Governor of Virginia, Tim Kane, when he came before the Committee to discuss economic links between Virginia and Ireland and how they can be enhanced.

Farmers can receive Department payments to credit union accounts

The Irish League of Credit Unions has announced that its member credit unions in the Republic of Ireland can now receive electronic payments due to their farming members from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

“This is a welcome change from the Department’s previous stance which only allowed payments to be made to credit unions operating full EFT services,” Kieron Brennan said.
