Local success for managers at annual Supermac’s All Stars Awards

Galwayman Ciarán Stewart was named ‘Franchisee of the Year’ and Eyre Square branch manager Rajen Subramamiam named ‘Manager of the Year’ Award at the Supermac’s All Stars Awards event in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa last week. Ciaran operates stores in Tullamore, Navan and Drogheda while Rajen is the manager at the Supermac’s Eyre Square branch. They received their awards for outstanding achievement in service, operations, marketing and public relations. In all there were 18 awards handed out on the night covering Supermac’s, Papa John’s and SuperSubs.

2016 busiest ever year at Ireland West Airport as passenger numbers soar to over 730,000 for the first time

2016 has proven to be a record breaking year at Ireland West Airport with passenger numbers exceeding 730,000 for the first time in the airports 31 year history. In 2016, the annual number of passengers using the airport increased by 7% to 734,031, an increase of 48,563 passengers compared to 2015. The Airport now serves 23 International destinations and is served by three of Europes major International airlines, Aer Lingus, Flybe and Ryanair.

Ireland West Airport to welcome almost 30,000 passengers over Christmas period

Ireland West Airport is expecting to have its busiest Christmas period in the airport’s 30 year history as thousands of people make their way home for Christmas to the West and North West. Over the Christmas period the airport is expected to handle close to 30,000 passengers, making it the busiest Christmas period in the Airports history with traffic expected to be up by almost 10% compared to last Christmas.

Airlines have added extra flights in the last few days to cater for the increased demand for flights both to and from the West of Ireland with flights from UK cities such as East-Midlands, Edinburgh, London, Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool proving most in demand.

A €1 million euro facelift has been unveiled this week at the Shannon Heritage-owned Bunratty Castle and Folk Park in Co. Clare, one of Ireland’s top visitor attractions. A major upgrade has been completed at the popular site, involving the development of a new retail store and online brand, a new café and new attractions around the Park. The development has resulted in an extra 30 staff being employed at the site to help bring Ireland’s heritage to life for visitors.
