Home Instead named as SFA Outstanding Small Business

Home Instead Senior Care Franchising, which has an independently owned office in Galway, was recently announced as the Small Firms Association Outstanding Small Business of the Year. An Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, TD, presented the award at a ceremony in the Mansion House in Dublin to Colman and Heather Gately, owners of Home Instead Senior Care in Galway.

Speaking about the award Mr Gately said the award recognises the incredibly passionate and hard work put in over the past three years by all the Home Instead team, to provide a truly caring service to Irish seniors. During that time Home Instead Senior Care Franchising has gone from a start-up situation to being the leading supplier of in-home, non-medical, assistance to Irish seniors.

"We were honoured last year to have been selected as the winner in the Service category of this competition so we know these awards bestow a prestige which translates into practical benefits in terms of staff motivation, public awareness and professional recognition, all of which contribute to future growth.

"This growth has already seen Home Instead Senior Care expand since 2005 to a current total of 14 independently owned offices in Ireland covering counties Dublin, Galway, Cork, Donegal, Wexford, Limerick, Tipperary, Wicklow, Waterford, and Kerry.

“The 15th opens later this month in Drogheda providing service in Louth and Meath and there are more to follow later in the year. Thanks to the most recent openings in Tipperary, Waterford and Louth Home Instead Senior Care hopes to create over 150 new jobs over the next 18 months.

"Our aim is to alleviate the fear of growing older and having to move to an institution because of the risk of isolation. We want to give older people in the west of Ireland the option to stay at home with the companionship and support necessary to live a longer, happier life. To this end we have already invested, and will continue to invest hugely, in developing not only a professional franchise, but also a service that will change the face of ageing in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon."

The Home Instead Senior Care's office in Galway also serves counties Mayo and Roscommon. For details contact 091 384 160 or visit www.homeinstead.ie
