Go for a walk and raise funds for Age Action

The first memory walk for older people will take place between 11am and 2pm in Terryland Forest Park on Sunday September 28.

Organised and sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care as part of Positive Ageing Week the fun walk will raise funds for Age Action Ireland, an organisation which helps promote better policies and services for older people in an ageing society.

“Last year the event took place in Dublin only. Over 200 people participated and €20,000 was raised,” says Colman Gately, director, Home Instead Senior Care in Galway.

“This year we want to show what a great difference the west can make and we would encourage as many Galwegians as possible to come along and help break both those records!”

Participants are encouraged to bring along friends and family of all ages to walk as a team on a gentle 20 minute circuit. There is a special souvenir memory walk T-shirt for all those who donate funds on the day as well as refreshments, entertainment and spot prizes. In addition, all participants will take home a goodie bag.

Sponsorship kits are available from Home Instead Senior Care Galway- telephone (091 ) 384160 - and the organisers hope each team will raise a minimum of €50. Special certificates will be presented to individuals and teams who raise more than €500 each.

Home Instead Senior Care, with 11 independently owned offices throughout the country, is Ireland’s leading provider of non-medical in-home care to seniors.
