Murrays Nile Lodge, the local coffee shop with a long history

In association with Murrays

Murrays is a friendly neighbourhood coffee shop with a long history. The building was originally built by the Murray family in the 1930s and over the next 60 years it served the community as a grocery shop and post office. There are many Galway people who fondly remember spending their pocket money on sweets and ice cream in Murrays! The shop closed in the 1990s but the family continued to live above it. In 2016 Doireann, great-grand-daughter of the original Mr. Murray, re-opened the business as a coffee shop and bakery.

Today, Murrays is once again becoming a popular meeting point in the community. Call in for a cuppa and be sure to enjoy one of the freshly baked treats. Scones, bagels, cinnamon buns and the likes are all baked fresh onsite every morning and served in homely surroundings with the finest teas, coffees and hot chocolates.

.

Homemade Fudge has always been a tradition in Doireann’s family and in Murrays you will find a huge range of unique flavours and modern twists on the original family recipe which came from Doireann’s great grand mother.

As well as the treats on the counter everyday, celebration cakes can be ordered for any occasion, drop in to view the menu or to discuss the options. The cake menu has been developed to make sure there is something for every taste.

.

Keeping with the baking theme you will also find a selection of second hand cookery books for sale where you would be amazed at some the gems you might find. As well as the cookery books there are gift cards and other gifts from local Galway producers.

.

Located at Nile Lodge Corner, on the Lower Salthill road, Murrays is open five days a week, from Tuesday to Saturday from 9am-5pm and is fully accessible, there is facility to lock bicycles, car parking and designated disability access parking.
