THE GALWAY Choral Association is welcoming new members ahead of the start of its new season of rehearsals on Sunday September 6, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, in St Patrick’s Band Hall. Prospective members can attend up to three rehearsals before deciding to join.
The 60 strong community based choir, with members of all ages and differing levels of experience, is directed by Norman Duffy. It is open to anyone interested in choral singing. An ability to read music, while an advantage, is not necessary.
The choir recently launched a new two-year programme, Rolling to Beethoven, featuring classic choral works. It stars in January with Maurice Duruflé's Requiem Opus 9, and culminating in Beethoven’s Mass in C major, with orchestral accompaniment, in June 2017. The choir also raises funds for charity, and has raised €10,000 in recent years.
