THE GUITAR, whether used to play rock, jazz, or classical, will be the centre of attention on Tuesday June 2 at The Galway Guitar Night, in The Cellar Bar.
Performing on the night is Dublin fingerstyle guitarist Shane Hennessey. His arrangements of modern and classic pop for solo guitar has seen him compared to Tommy Emmanuel and earn praise from Chic's Nile Rodgers; Frank Kilkelly and his trio will play a jazz set. He has recently toured with Dolores Keane and is a member of the TG4 Glor Tire house band.
Also playing is Mal O'Brien and his Ocean Drive band. One of Ireland's premier guitarists, he has played on numerous sessions; performed on TV with Paul Young; and appeared on stage with Nashville's Johnny Hyland. He released his debut album Ocean Drive last year.
The night is organised by Kieran Kelly and Enda Dempsey. Doors are at 9pm. Admission is €10.
