Ballet from the tutu and beyond

TUTUS & BEYOND, a show featuring classical and contemporary ballet, comes to the Town Hall Theatre on Friday April 17 at 8pm. Performed by Ballet Ireland, the show will feature new work created for the company by Royal Ballet dancer-turned-choreographer, Ludovic Ondiviela.

The first half of the show features Pas de Quatre, a classic of the Romantic style which caused a sensation in 1845 when it was first performed; and Sing Sing Sing, a high-octane visit to 1960s and 1970s Broadway and Hollywood, inspired by Bob Fosse. The second half features Ludovic Ondiviela’s new ballet, Lost, which is inspired by Irish mythology.

Ludovic trained at the Royal Ballet School, London, and danced with the Royal Ballet for 11 years before dedicating himself to choreography in 2014 when he choreographed and presented his first full-length commission for the Royal Ballet, Cassandra. He has also created works for Ballet Black, Men in Motion at the Coliseum, and Gandini Juggling.

Dancers in Tutus & Beyond are Richard Bermange, Chris Furlong, Céline Le Grelle, Maria Ledesma, James Löffler, Jane Magan, Simona Marsiblio, Kesi Olley-Dorey, and Diarmaid O’Meara.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
