SME views sought to help shape future Government policy, says Kyne

The views of SMEs throughout Galway city and county are being sought by the Government to help inform job and enterprise-friendly policies.

Fine Gael Galway West TD Seán Kyne is calling on small, local, and family businesses across Galway to take part in the Government’s Standing Up for Small Business initiative which was launched on Tuesday.

The campaign involves an online survey and a call for views, opinions, and submissions from business-owners and entrepreneurs on what elements are required for job and enterprise-friendly policy.

Dep Kyne, who is also a member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation, pointed out how the number of people signing on in Galway has dropped by 21 per cent (4,800 individuals ) since 2012. While he said this has been facilitated through new jobs from global companies such as HP, Zimmer, and Avaya, it has also been due to SMEs.

“Standing Up for Small Business,” said Dep Kyne, “aims to make it easier for local, small, and family-owned business to input their views and ideas to make policy on jobs as effective as possible.”
