Miriam Donohue - Fundit campaign for debut album

Miriam Donohue.

Miriam Donohue.

MIRIAM DONOHUE, one of Galway’s most talented and interesting singer-songwriters is due to start recording her debut album this month and is raising funds for the project through Fundit.ie

Miriam will be recording with Dublin producer Gavin Glass, who has worked with Lisa Hannigan,  but needs further support to help with the costs. Those who make Fundit donations will receive various awards depending on the amount they pledge.

The album is planned as the follow-up to Miriam’s excellent debut EP, Bookmarks, which showcases her skills as an acoustic guitarist and as a writer of intelligent, imaginative, lyrics.

So far Miriam has raised €3,382 and has eight days to go to reach the target of €5,000. The money will go towards recording studio costs; album mixing/mastering; and CD duplication for 500 physical editions of the album. Those interested in helping Miriam out can do so by pre-ordering the album, gig tickets, merchandise, or by making a donation via fundit.ie/project/miriam-donohue-debut-album The campaign ends on Tuesday December 9 and no money is received if target is not reached.

Miriam’s music is indie-pop with jazz and folk flashes, although she has described it as “like children’s stories printed on silk pages”. Whisperin&Hollerin magazine compared her voice to Suzanne Vega and Mary Margaret O’Hara. She has played Electric Picnic, the Westport Festival, and supported Nina Persson, Jack L, and Mark Geary. Her music has been played on RTÉ radio, Lyric FM, and various regional stations.
