The Galway minor hurlers,. under the guidance of Mattie Murphy, head to Dublin on Sunday to take on highly-rated Limerick in the All-Ireland semi-final (1.30pm ).

Galway qualified for this semi-final when defeating Ulster champions Antrim by 2-20 to 0-9.

Limerick are hot favourites to advance with the bookies, and are priced at 8/15, with Galway the 7/4 outsiders.

Despite those odds, Murphy is quietly confident his young charges can do the business with a panel, which he says, is as good as any year.

"We have a nice squad and they have improved and progressed a lot over the past few months. Some years really good sides get beaten and other times a middling team can have a very good year. A lot of it comes down to how the team performs on the day, and Sunday won't be any different. Limerick are a top side, but we will focus on our lads and see if they can produce a performance to get us to the final."

The starting 15 will be announced later tonight (Thursday ) after training, and Murphy says it will not have been an easy job.

"We have lots of good players. And the competition is especially keen in the forwards where you have about 12 lads going for the six places up front. It is a good dilemma to have and it is great to have good players to come off the bench when they are needed."

Turloughmore had a strong representation the last day against Antrim, with four players starting, and it will be interesting to see if the talented Jamie Holland remains at centre-back or he could be switched to centre-field.

Kinvara's Conor Whelan is a highly talented player and he was wing-forward last year too, so Galway will need him to be in scoring form on Sunday.

"Limerick are very confident and the word coming from the county is that they won't be beaten. From that perspective, we are looking forward to the challenge, and if we play to the level we believe we can, we will be hard beaten."
