The Word of God - the abridged version

THEY PARED Shakespeare down to his very essence, now they are about to do the same to the greatest story ever told - The Bible.

The long running and legendary Reduced Shakespeare Company is bringing The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged ) to the Town Hall Theatre on Friday May 9 at 8pm.

The show, which the Baltimore Sun said “puts the ‘fun’ back in fundamentalism”, written by Adam Long, Reed Martin, and Austin Tichenor, sees them zip through the 66 books of the Bible, in an affectionate, irreverent, roller coaster ride, along the way tackling the great theological questions: Did Adam and Eve have navels? Did Moses really look like Charlton Heston? And why isn’t the word “phonetic” spelt the way it sounds?

Whether you are Catholic or Protestant, Muslim or Jew, atheist or Jedi, you will be tickled by the RSC’s romp through the Good Book.

The show has been winning rave reviews with Belfast Telegraph calling it “a goofy triumph”; “slick, fast, very funny show”, the Sunday Times; while The Daily Mail said the Reduced Shakespeare Company were “in a league of their own when it comes to vivid originality”.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or
