O’Donnellan & Joyce reports massive increase in activity in secondhand residential market

Niall Browne, manager of O’Donnellan & Joyce’s secondhand residential market, said this week that over the last six months there has been an enormous increase in the volume of activity and sales in the secondhand market, particularly for properties under €300,000 with an upsurge in both sales and viewings.

“First time buyers are returning to the market as well as investors,” Mr Browne said. “Houses in areas within three miles of the city centre are attracting a number of buyers for each property, and these buyers are bidding against each other which is something we have not experienced in a long period of time. With a lack of building over the past six years there appears to be a shortage of traditional three/four bedroom semidetached houses in good locations; Knocknacarra on the west side of the city and Renmore on the east side of the city are the two most sought after locations in the city. Buyers are looking for your traditional two storey semidetached residence with gardens front and rear. The attraction of the Knocknacarra and Renmore areas is due to the facilities within these areas such as schools, shops, and ease of access to the city centre.”

The following is a list of some of the properties which have been sold by the secondhand department at O’Donnellan & Joyce in recent months.
