There’s lots to do in County Galway

There certainly is a lot going on in terms of entertainment in Galway city. We already enjoyed April’s Cúirt Literature Festival, June’s Galway Film Fleadh, and the Galway Arts Festival. All of those attracted great crowds and made those attending experience unforgettable moments. We can now enjoy lasting a full week Galway Races in Ballybrit. There is no need to introduce anyone to this splendid event.

Although Galway is the county town and is expected to provide the best entertainment, the rest of the county offers a wide range of cultural festivals and leisure events to its inhabitants and visiting tourists.

An organic farm tour will take place on Sunday August 17. All those interested can meet at the community centre in Corrandulla to take a shuttle bus. The tour will include an open day at the recently established Green Earth Organics farm. Those attending will get a chance to see how everything works at an organic farm, join in the talks on farming and biodiversity, and listen to a local band playing. The family event will take place from 1pm to 6pm.

The week after that, on Sunday August 24, Coole Park will host nature walks and all sorts of interesting activities for young people at its biodiversity family day. The popular biodiversity puppet show will also take place. The biodiversity family day will start at 1pm and continue until 6pm.

For local arts fans, Tuam Arts Festival will again take place in August. The Connemara Pony Show will take place August 21 and Clarenbridge Oyster Festival will entertain crowds from September 5 to 7. If you visit Clifden in September, don’t miss out the Clifden Arts Festival, which takes place from September 18 to 28. If the Clarenbridge festival gives you a taste for more oysters, pay a visit to Galway International Oyster Festival from September 25 to 28. For those who enjoying walking in beautiful surroundings, Connemara Walking Festival will take place in Clifden from September 26 to 29.
