What's on in Galway this September

School and college has restarted for the numerous young people around Galway, the last dying embers of sunlight seems to have completely disappeared, and everybody's chilled out existence that only the months of June, July, and August can create, has been replaced by the daily grind of work. Summer has ended folks and as many believe, the season of festivals in Galway has concluded too.

Well that would be an incorrect assertion to make as September still provides plenty of events in Galway about which to get excited. Here at the advertiser.ie we have compiled a few events to check out this September in Galway.

Clarenbridge Oyster Festival

Established in 1954 the Clarenbridge Oyster Festival has become one of the most popular culinary festivals in Ireland. The festival programme includes a market day, golf tournaments, yacht races, art and photographic exhibitions, a fine wine and gourmet evening, talks and lectures and the best-dressed-lady competition. International Galway Tattoo Show

If you love getting inked then the International Galway Tattoo Show is a must on your Galway visit list. Now in seventh year the shows brings together some of the world's best international tattoo artists along with Ireland's finest talents to give visitors an amazing experience on Saturday September 14 and Sunday 15 at The Galmont Hotel. The show is not only a celebration of tattoo art and will feature entertainment, live music, a stunning art gallery, a free tattoo cinema, photo booth, market stalls, and traders on show to keep punters entertained.

Galway Culture Night

From theatre and talks to arts and crafts and film and everything in between, Galway Culture Night on Friday September 20 is the perfect day and night for the culture vulture. Clifden Community Arts Week

Described as “Ireland’s best-kept secret” by Novel Laureate Kazuo Ishiguro, Ireland's longest running community arts festival should be in the diary. Audiences can expect a superb literary, musical, and visual art content which will have the community arts of Clifden and the surrounding hinterland as a central focus from Wednesday September 18 to Sunday 29.

Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival

The food and drink scene in Galway has exploded in the last decade with some of the most sumptuous dishes being produced by bars and restaurants around the city and county. However, one food experience that has dominated the Galway food landscape for the last 65 years is the Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival. The phenomenal weekend event draws thousands of visitors to sample the famous native Galway oysters as well as enjoy the World Oyster Opening Championship, the extravagant Mardi Gras gala dinner, and Féile Bia na Mara. Punters can 'Taste the Atlantic' from Friday September 27 to Sunday 29.
