A 34-year-old man questioned in relation to an alleged assault in the Westside area on Monday has since been released without charge and a file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
It is understood that a 19-year-old woman had been walking home on the footpath at Seamus Quirke Road after 9.30pm when she was attacked by a man. The woman received injuries to her head and hand.
A man, believed to be a foreign national, was arrested in the area and taken to Mill Street Garda Station where he was detained and questioned in relation to the incident. He was later released without charge pending a file to the DPP.
