Alâ seeks participants for Grace O’Malley play

Alâ, a social and community development organisation, is seeking participants for the group’s 2012 production for a play based on the life of Grace O’Malley.

The organisation caters for adults of all abilities, nationalities, and ethnic groups, mainly using theatre, arts, and education as development tools. Alâ recently held its AGM at the Ballybane Community Centre electing the follower officers for the forthcoming year - chairperson Deirdre Dooley; treasurer Louie Maguire; assistant treasurer Marie Aherne; Integration officer Adedotun Adekeye; PRO Tommy Roddy; project director Jim Aherne; and committee members Brian Donnely, Dale Conroy, Amber Watts, Ferdia Watts, and Declan Madden.

This term’s play is being facilitated by Gerry Conneelly and new participants are being sought to take part in rehearsals which will be beginning soon. No previous experience is required and specific roles for people with skills such as circus skills, dance or music also need to be filled. Background people will also be required, particularly in costume. Meetings take place every Wednesday at 7.30pm at the Ballybane Community Centre.
