Man accused of dealing €12,000 of drugs sent for trial

A 25-year-old man accused of dealing drugs worth approximately €12,000 has been sent forward for trial.

Zyndruna Bendorius with a rental address given as 13 An Creggan, Barna, appeared before the holiday sittings of Galway District Court on Tuesday where he was served with the book of evidence in relation to three charges.

Bendorius is charged with alleged possession of cannabis with intent to sell or supply at Briarhill Shopping Centre on September 15, 2011, contrary to Section 15 and Section 27 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. He is also further charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis resin, contrary to Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, at the same location and date.

Inspector Brendan Carroll told the court that the Directior of Public Prosecutions has consented to the accused being sent forward for trial to the next sittings of Galway Circuit Criminal Court commencing October 4 next.

After giving what is known as the alibi warning Judge Alan Mitchell remanded Bendorius on contining bail with no conditions attached. An application for legal aid was made however after hearing that the accused had secured employment in the last number of days Judge Mitchell deferred the decision until the commencement of the trial.
