Duo accused of robbing Christmas market trader sent for trial

Two men accused of following and then robbing a trader during the Continental Christmas Market in 2010 have been sent forward for trial.

At a previous court sitting Jamie Clune (34 ) with an address at 4 Bridge View, Roslevan, Ennis, Co Clare, and Justin Wynne (32 ) with an address at 59 John Coogan Park, Newcastle, pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbing a man of €360 in cash at Woodquay, on November 21, 2010, contrary to Section 14 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud ) Act.

When the case resumed at Galway District Court this week it was revealed that the book of evidence has been served on both of the accused. Inspector Ernie Whyte also informed the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has consented to both men being sent forward for trial at the next sitting of Galway Circuit Criminal Court commencing January 17.

After giving both men what is known as the alibi warning, Judge Mary Fahy remanded Clune in custody with consent to bail as set by the High Court while Wynne was remanded on continuing bail.
