Lackagh raiders sent forward for trial

Two Dublin men charged in connection with an armed raid on a businessman’s home in Lackagh last February have been sent forward for trial.

Gregory Kelly (24 ) with an address at 63 Sandyhill Gardens, Ballymun, and Michael McCormack (43 ) with an address at 2 Ballbrook Close, Tallaght, both appeared before Judge Mary Fahy at Galway District Court last Monday.

The two accused face numerous counts of false imprisonment, including that of Julian and Emma Flynn, at their home in Lackagh, Turloughmore, Galway, on February 15, 2009. Other charges include robbery of €3,200, and carrying firearms with criminal intent.

The court heard that a book of evidence had been served on both defenedants on the morning of the sitting and that the DPP had consented to their being returned for trial at Galway Circuit Criminal Court commencing October 6, 2009.

The defendants, who had previously secured High Court bail, were remanded on continuing bail.
