Anne McCabe booklaunch this evening

TV DIRECTOR and documentary maker Anne McCabe will launch her new novel, Under the Avalanche, in the Galway City Library this evening at 6pm.

The guest speaker at the event will be Fine Gael senator Fidelma Healy Eames. Ms McCabe will read excerpts from the novel and speak about her inspiration while a TV director in RTÉ.

Ms McCabe’s reports for RTÉ about the Kerry Babies Case of the 1980s sent shock waves across the country and shone an uncomfortable light on the choices offered to women. The case provided inspiration for Under the Avalanche - A Story of Secrets buried deep in the hills of County Wicklow (The Universal Publisher Group ).

The book tells the story of three generations of Irish women, the men in their lives, and the effects of the 1867 avalanche in County Wicklow.

Ms McCabe has also adapted Ken Bruen’s The Guards for TV3 and she directs the popular drama series Ros na Run for TG4.
