DANCING IN The Asylum, the second collection of short stories from Galway writer and critic Fred Johnston will be officially launched this evening.
The launch will take place in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop, Middle Street, at 6pm with the guest speaker being Sinn Féin senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh. The book is published by Parthian Books.
Fred Johnston believes writers and artists should engage at some level with the politics of their time and as such his stories deal with questions of individuality and society and the choices facing individuals in conflict with the mores of conventional society.
The eight stories range over a period of roughly 25 years of the writer’s creative life and some of them have been previously published in journals. He will read from the collection at the launch.
