FRANKIE GAVIN “is a true fiddle-playing genius, one who continues to inspire and dumbfound in equal measure,” so said The Scotsman about the Galwayman.
Galway city will be able to enjoy a night of Frankie’s magnificent fiddle playing when Frankie Gavin & De Dannan will bring their Up Close & Personal Tour to Kelly’s on Thursday May 19 at 9pm.
This 32-county tour will see the band perform in a series of intimate venues in order to get ‘up close and personal’ with audiences. “We want to lift the hearts of the Irish people during this extraordinary economic climate in Ireland,” says Frankie.
The current De Dannan ensemble is led by Frankie on fiddle, flutes, and whistles, along with Damien Mullane (accordion ); Eric Cunningham (percussion, flutes, and whistles ); Mike Galvin (bouzouki and guitars ); and Michelle Lally (vocals ).
On the night the band will play music from its latest album Jigs, Reels & Rock‘n’Roll, as well as plenty of old favourites. In September Frankie entered the Guinness World Records as the fastest fiddle player in the world.
Tickets are €20. For more information contact Kelly’s on 091 - 563804. See also www.DeDannan.com
