International health guru Udo Erasmus is inviting Galway people to send him their healthy recipes. He plans to publish a free Irish healthy recipe booklet later this year and hopes to include at least one recipe from each county.
The creator of Udo’s Choice® Ultimate Oil Blend, he says the authors of the chosen recipes will share a prize fund worth €4,600.
He has set up a prize fund of €4,600 to thank the creators of the recipes which he chooses for publication. As a special reward, the recipe which he and his judges deem to be the healthiest will win a cash prize of €2,000 and will feature on the menu of The Cellar Restaurant in the five star Merrion Hotel in Dublin. All other recipes chosen will receive a hamper of Udo’s Choice® products to the value of €100.
Ed Cooney, the executive chef at The Merrion Hotel and nutritionist and blogger Susan Jane Murray will help Mr Erasmus judge the entries.
They will rate the recipes by the quality and freshness of the ingredients used and the way in which they are prepared, cooked and presented. All recipes must feature Udo’s Oil as an ingredient.
The closing date for recipes is May 31 and the winners will be announced in early autumn. Entries can be made via www.udoschoice.ie or on a pre-printed entry form which is available from local health food stores and pharmacies. For further information, view www.udoschoice.ie
Acclaimed author and nutritionist Mr Erasmus loves food and ensures that his daily diet includes at least one portion of food which is fresh, whole, raw and organic,0 eg, salads and fruit. When cooking he prefers to steam, boil or broil, knowing that these methods do the least harm to the nutrients contained in the ingredients.
He lectures worldwide on the link between essential fatty acids and good health. Omega 3, one of the most important of all fatty acids is readily available in seed oils (olive and Udo’s Choice® Ultimate Oil Blend ) both of which can be added to warm or cold food after it has been prepared. These not only boost the level of health promoting omegas in the body but also add to the overall food experience. He uses one or both of these on his food daily.
