The Rahoon Youth Project will begin its new programme of after-school activities for secondary school students shortly with most events taking place at Rahoon Family Centre in Droim Chaoin.
This term the initiative will offer art, cookery, football, outdoor activities, environmental education, a monthly film club, a Leaving Cert study skills and relaxation group, and Rainbows and Spectrum bereavement support groups.
Rahoon Youth Project is part of Youth Work Ireland, Galway and runs its activities in partnership with the Rahoon Family Centre. Previous activities also included multimedia work, drugs awareness education, a girls’ group, and drop-in sessions.
“We are flexible in what we offer and we invite suggestions as our aim is to meet the needs of the youth of the area,”says Kerry E’lyn Larkin, youth worker with the project.
“The activities are free of charge. We have great craic and we look forward to seeing new faces this term.”
