Walsh wants Pride of Place nomination for Mervue

Mervue deserves to be nominated in this years Pride of Place in recognition of the community based groups which “work tirelessly to make Mervue a great place to live”.

This is the view of Fine Gael councillor Brian Walsh, who is calling on the Galway City Council to nominate Mervue for the award.

According to Cllr Walsh, who was born and raised in Mervue, there are a number of “very active residents associations, a parish council, senior citizens committee, a ladies’ club, and numerous sporting clubs all of which make significant positive contributions to the quality of life in the area”.

The concept behind the competition is to recognise and celebrate the vital contributions that community groups make to society.

“There is a wonderful community spirit in Mervue,” he said. “I feel it would be a worthy recipient of this prestigious national award.”
