Toddler rescued from drain taken off critical list

A toddler who fell into a drain of water at a temporary halting site in Galway last week has been taken off the critical list.

Pakie Delaney, who will be two in March, is recovering at University Hospital Galway having spent the past week in the intensive care unit.

He was rescued from a pool close to the site on the Headford road in Carrowbrowne on Sunday, January 31, having been discovered by a member of his family.

The Health and Safety Authority, Galway City Council, and gardaí are investigating.
