Bail refused for man charged with dangerous driving causing death

A man charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a woman at Oranmore was refused bail when he was brought before Galway District Court on Monday.

Brazilian national Cleone Pereira De Matos (23 ) with address at Moneymore, Oranmore, appeared before Judge Eamon O’Brien charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Nina Buhl at Moneymore on December 12, 2009.

Inspector Sean Glynn informed the court that the State would be objecting to bail being granted.

Sgt John Gormally of Oranmore Garda station explained that the objection was on the grounds that the charges were serious, that De Matos had failed to register, and that there were fears he might abscond.

After careful consideration Judge O’Brien refused bail and remanded De Matos in custody to appear before Galway District Court again on January 4, 2010.
