Fine Gael Councillor Eddie Hoare has urged Galway City Council to apply for grant funding for the provision of lighting at the Tennis and Basketball Courts in Westside Park.
“We’ve seen the great impact the floodlights have had since they were installed a few years ago on the running track in Westside. They operate on sensors and the track is used all year round.
“Mike Geraghty, a long term advocate for Tennis in Galway has consistently cited the need for lights here. The courts are really well used and this investment would increase usage all year round.
“They could be used for Tennis, Basketball, PickleBall and other sports. I will continue to work with Galway City Council to prioritise the delivery of this project. This could be fund through Sport Capital or alternatively we could fund it within our own 2027 Budget,” Councillor Hoare added.
