Would you resurrect your loved one? Digitally, that is. Critically acclaimed solo show Dead Air comes to The Mick Lally Theatre on Wednesday, October 28, and Thursday, October 29, at 8pm.
Since Alfie’s dad died, he has visited everyone’s dreams but hers (rude ). Desperate to talk to him, she turns to AiR, an AI chatbot for the dead.
Written and performed by Alfrun Rose and directed by Anna María Tómasdóttir, Dead Air combines dark humour and offbeat storytelling with an unsettling exploration of how technology promises to keep our loved ones close.
“This play is about the madness of grief; how we try to hold on to the past, and what happens when it holds on to us,” says Rose.
There is no AI in the performance: the production is intentionally analogue, with Rose playing all seven characters, often in dialogue with each other.
The show has earned international acclaim throughout the run, which has been developed and performed at venues and festivals including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Reykjavík Fringe, London and Copenhagen Stage.
