The Salthill Hotel will be transformed into a cabaret club for an exciting charity concert featuring local and international talent on Sunday, October 18, from 7pm.
Moonlight & Magic features the 20-piece Moonlight Big Band jazz orchestra playing in aid of Hand in Hand Children’s Cancer Charity with four renowned vocalists under the stewardship of musical director Bertrand Huvé.
The concert will feature music from Sinatra, Buble, Miller, Paul Anka, Goodman and many more.
Singers on the night will include well established and talented Galwegians Madeleine Fleming and Padraig Connaughton, Offaly native and award-winning entertainer Dickie Donnelly, and critically acclaimed musical director, voice coach and Jazz pianist Kay Thorn from Charleston, South Carolina.
Seating will be cabaret, round-table style with a dance floor, and the MC for the night will be Galway Bay FM’s very own Ronan Lardner.
All singers and musicians in the band have once again kindly donated their services to support this charity, and all proceeds raised will go directly to this great cause. Organisers say the Salthill Hotel has been exceptionally supportive in assisting with this fundraising event.
The Moonlight Big Band was established in 2016 by Galway musicians Michael Dooley and Stan O'Grady. It meets biannually for charity concerts and to date has helped to raise over €60,00 for local causes such as the Galway Hospice, Galway RNLI, Galway Cope Foundation, the National Breast Cancer Institute, the Martin Murray Foundation, Galway Croí Heart Foundation, Cancer Care West and the Little Blue Heroes.
This year’s chosen charity – Hand in Hand children’s charity - was established in 2006 to help families with a child diagnosed with cancer in the West of Ireland. Its mission is to alleviate, as much as is possible, some of the stress and anxiety that comes with a childhood cancer diagnosis, so families can focus on what really matters: their child's health and happiness.
