Homeowners across Galway are being encouraged to consider making a spare room available to an Atlantic Technological University (ATU ) student through StudentPad.
For students struggling to secure suitable accommodation, a room in a local home can provide a safe and welcoming place to live while attending college. For homeowners, it can offer additional household income and put an unused room to good use.
MR, a homeowner in Renmore, recently advertised a spare room through StudentPad and described the experience as straightforward and positive.
“The platform was easy to use, and I liked knowing that I was advertising directly to genuine students,” the homeowner said.
After receiving enquiries within a few days, MR quickly found a suitable tenant. The arrangement has worked well for everyone involved.
“Having a student in the house has been a really positive experience. They were respectful, easy to live with and the extra income has helped with household bills.”
Opening a home to a student can make a meaningful difference at a time when accommodation remains one of the greatest concerns facing those beginning or continuing their studies. It can also offer homeowners companionship, additional income and the satisfaction of helping a student become part of the Galway community.
“It’s nice to know you’re helping a student find safe, reliable accommodation while making good use of a spare room,” MR added.
Homeowners with a suitable room are invited to consider advertising through ATU StudentPad and helping a student find a place to call home.
