Fresh from a four-month-long pop-up at the Guinness Storehouse, Chipeen will head stateside this August to take part in Mór Fest, happening in Tara Mór near Madison Square Garden for five days.

Running from Wednesday, August 19, to Sunday, August 23, Mór Fest will feature a line-up of Irish guests, entertainment, comedy, sport, culture and food, with Chipeen serving every day from 12 pm to 12 am.

The pop-up menu will feature a taste of Chipeen, as the team will bring over key Irish ingredients, including Harry’s Nutbutter and Dummond House garlic, which will be used to make Chipeen’s signature Garlic and Satay Curry sauces.

Bringing Irish potatoes to New York proved a little tricky, so American potatoes will be hand-cut fresh on site using the same cooking process as Galway and served in the memorable Chipeen cone found in their Shop Street store - with the team hoping to get as close as possible to the Chipeen experience in New York.

Joe Gaughan, co-owner of Chipeen, says, “We are so excited to bring Chipeen to New York and to have the opportunity to introduce a taste of Galway to a whole new audience.

"The whole thing came about completely randomly when we received a message from Tara Mór saying they had heard loads about us and would love to have us over. To think that our name had even made it to Manhattan was pretty bonkers, so when the opportunity came up, we jumped at it.”

The family aspect will remain strong as Joe, who set up Chipeen with his brother Barney, will bring his two sisters with him to support the pop-up. “For me, the best part will be the people — meeting new faces, having great conversations and having a bit of craic along the way.

"It’s a real privilege to be able to do this, and being able to bring my two sisters, who both work with Chipeen, over to New York and experience it together makes it even more special.”

Mór Fest brings together Irish food and drink producers, live music, comedy, sport, community events and cultural programming under one roof. The festival will feature live performances, a comedy show featuring Owen Colgan, traditional music sessions with The Young Wolfe Tones, sports panels and wellness events.

The programme will also include a Modern Ireland panel with well-known personalities Cassie Stokes and James Kavanagh, a dating show hosted by fellow Galwegian Ronan Mitchell and a live interview with footballer Niall Quinn, alongside a market showcasing Irish producers and brands.
