The fourth and final exhibit of the season, “Work From Two Studios”, featuring Brian Bourke and Jay Murphy, will open on July 31 at the courthouse.
Having studied at the Central School of Art in London, Jay Murphy moved to Galway in 1976. Her work, held in private and public collections, this time explores the landscape, with a focus on isolated trees that have died and the controlled burning and clearing of land by farmers.
Brian Bourke, born in Dublin in 1936, has won numerous awards for his work, exhibited extensively in Ireland and internationally. This summer he will present a selection of sculpted heads, portrait paintings and animal drawings.
The exhibition will open with Frankie Gavin, talented musician and co-founder of De Dannan, as guest speaker.
The exhibition runs from July 31 to August 9 and is open daily 10am–5pm, Monday to Saturday, and 11am–5pm on Sundays.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
