Town Hall Theatre announces exciting July-September programme

Galway’s Town Hall Theatre this week unveiled a vibrant programme of events for July to September including world-class festivals, theatre, music, dance, film, comedy, family, literary and special events. For full programme details, ticket information and booking updates, visit tht.ie July opens with the internationally acclaimed Galway Film Fleadh, which returns from 7–12 July with a packed schedule of 100+ screenings, premieres, and filmmaker discussions to Galway, showcasing the best in Irish and international cinema while supporting emerging and established filmmaking talent.

The cultural momentum continues with the Galway International Arts Festival from 13–26 July. The Town Hall Theatre will host a range of theatrical productions as part of the festival programme, including Druid’s highly anticipated staging of The Shaughraun at the Town Hall and Pony Cam’s critically acclaimed production Burnout Paradise and Stephanie Lake Company’s powerful Colossus at the Black Box. Druid return in September with their eagerly awaited production of Eugene O’Neill’s A Moon For the Misbegotten.

Decadent present their uplifting production of Hugo Hamilton’s moving play about the iconic Irish writer Nuala O’Faoláin. Other highlights of the Town Hall’s theatre Summer-Autumn theatre line up include productions by Róisín Stack (No Woman Is An Island ), Mikel Murfi (with two of his critically acclaimed titles The Man In The Woman’s Shoes and I Hear You and Rejoice ), Brian Foster’s masterpiece Myra’s Story fresh from its West End run and To Hell in a Handbag by Helen Norton and Jonathon White.

Highlights of season’s eclectic music programme include An Evening with Lulian and Jiaxin Lloyd Webber, and concerts by Cody Pennington, Country Superstars and an album launch for The Whileaways. Galway’s Annual Summer Musical from Twin Productions this year is The Wiz, bound to be a highlight of the summer for families. In dance, Fidget Feet present their aerial hip hop H’opera H.O.M.E. and Undercurrent present Earthfall, an explosive tapestry of dance theatre and circus.

Little Cinema and Galway City of Film return with their unique 48 Hour Challenge event and Kenny Books present two very special literary events - Kyla Cobber in Conversation and Robert Harris in Conversation. Comedy also features strongly in the Town Hall’s busy Summer-Autumn schedule with a new Irish language comedy musical An tÉalú (with surtitles ), the Palestinian Comedy Club movie and the Do Bakchod Open Mic event. And don’t miss Blood in The Alley’s touring comedy hit Mary’s Hopes and Dreams. Other events include the ever-popular Bingo Loco.
