Jubilee show for brassy ensemble

A staggering 130 years after three Galwaymen started up a fife and drum band in 1896, St Patrick’s Brass Band is still blowing strong.

A selection of local vocalists and music groups will celebrate this historical milestone with an anniversary, summer show in the Galmont Hotel this Sunday, June 21, at 6.30pm.

This promises to be a night full of joyous celebration with music to suit all tastes.

Band menbers have been preparing a vibrant musical evening which will showcase the evolution of music it has performed since it was first established two centuries ago. The band is delighted to share the stage with vocalists Madeleine Fleming, Padraig Connaughton and Kay Thorn, as well the A Capella Knights and The Galway Concert Band.

St Patrick’s Band is Galway city’s premier brass band and has been teaching and performing music for Galwegians (as well as nationally and internationally ) for 130 years.

As a community-based organisation, St Patrick’s Band is immensely proud to share this incredible achievement with the people of Galway, as it aims to continue to spread inclusion, participation, and enjoyment through the magical medium of music.

From the drama of big showpieces brought by St Patrick’s Band and the Galway Concert Band (including ‘Prismatic Light’, ‘Les Miserables’ and ‘Tom and Jerry!’ ) to the soaring voices of guest singers (including ‘All I ask of you, ‘Summertime’ and ‘Angels ), this night of celebration promises to be a unique event.

Billed as a “Feel-Good Musical Night Out” it is perfect for families, theatre lovers, and music fans, with a show guaranteed to entertain, uplift spirits, and leave listeners humming all the way home.
