Grow your gardening career with Galway Training Provider

National Learning Network in Galway supports people at different stages of life to build skills, gain qualifications and move towards employment, further training and greater independence in their communities.

The organisation offers flexible, fully funded training courses for people with mental health difficulties, learning difficulties, autism or disabilities. Students are supported to achieve personal goals, whether that means gaining qualifications, preparing for work or building confidence and life skills.

The Galway centre is currently enrolling for its two-year QQI-certified horticulture programme. The course provides a strong foundation in practical horticulture skills, while allowing students to explore areas such as landscaping, garden maintenance, garden centre operations and turf maintenance.

Bob Reilly, horticulture instructor, said students benefit from a mix of classroom learning, practical training and work placements that help prepare them for employment across the horticulture sector.

“Our outdoor learning facilities in Galway include a large polytunnel and dedicated growing areas for fruit, vegetables, flowers, trees and shrubs, giving students valuable hands-on experience,” he said.

Training programmes at the Galway centre have helped many people with disabilities and additional support needs progress towards employment, further education and independent living.
