Latin art in Oughterard

Oughterard Courthouse will host an exhibition entitled Tropic Signal in Grey Light next Friday, May 29.

Haitian-American Hansel Vieuxpatinaeh and Brazilian Arthur Rosa will launch their joint exhibition at 7pm to music, and serve refreshments - all welcome.

The exhibition will run from Saturday, May 30, to bank holiday Monday, June 1, daily from 10am to 5pm, or from midday on Sundays.

Hansel is a self-taught abstract painter whose practice is shaped by a transatlantic life experience. Born in the West Indies, and raised in New York City, he is now based in the west of Ireland.

He works primarily in acrylic and mixed media, with a strong and unmistakable influence of music, which plays a vital role in the development of his work.

Arthur is a Brazilian artist based in Galway. Self-taught and intuitive, he began painting through his connection with music, creating album covers, posters, and visual pieces from his own paintings.

With works in public and private collections, he has gained recognition on the contemporary art scene as a distinctive figure of lyrical neo-expressionism, creating pictorial compositions rich in dreamlike intensity and emotional depth.
