Galway’s international literary magazine, Crannóg will launch its 64th issue on Friday, April 10, in The Crane Bar, on Sea Road, at 6.30pm.
This issue is packed with ten stories and 38 poems with a particularly strong local connection.
There are short stories and poems by many Galway writers including Rachel Coventry, Bernie Crawford, Anne Donnellan, Gerry Hanberry, Sighle Meehan, Aisling Ní Choibheanaigh Nic Eoin, Teresa O’Connor Diskin, Steven O’Reilly, and Jim Ward.
There is also a writer interview in the Crannóg Questionnaire section with Galway native Geraldine Mills.
The cover image is by Jackie Roantree from Inis Mór, Aran, and features a view of Blackrock as you have never seen it before.
Crannóg is published by Wordsonthestreet in association with Crannóg and appears in March and September.
Each year the Crannóg editors nominate three poets for the prestigious Forward Prize in Britain, and nominate three poets and three fiction writers for the US Pushcart Prize.
In addition, one contributor to each issue of Crannóg is granted a bursary of €1,500 to help with their writing career.
For issue 64 the bursary is awarded to Indonesian writer Fendy S Tulodo for his work teaching creative writing to underprivileged young people. The bursary is generously sponsored by the poet Marian Kilcoyne.
Crannóg is also announcing the inaugural Pushbike Prize for flash fiction with a prize fund of €1,500. Three winners will receive €500 each for flash pieces up to 500 words. Submissions open on Friday, May 1, and will remain open for 500 hours until May 21.
