O’Donnellan & Joyce report strong demand in the new homes market, which is led by sales agent Mary Fahy. The year 2025 finished on a positive note for the agents, with several new developments fully sold and nearing completion.
Purchasing your first home is always an exciting time, especially when buying a brand-new home. O’Donnellan & Joyce were delighted to be involved and share in the delight of first-time buyers securing their first home.
Most of the new homes are being purchased by first time buyers, and they can avail themselves of the government schemes such as the First Homes Scheme which is a government shared equity scheme and the Help to Buy grant up to a price level of €500,000.
With the cost of building materials continuing to rise, pushing construction costs higher, government schemes have made both purchasing and constructing new homes much more appealing.
O’Donnellan & Joyce kicked off 2026 with the launch of the first phase of Cairn Homes' second Galway development on the Ballymoneen Road. The development comprises two-, three- and four-bedroom semi-detached homes, and we are awaiting instructions to release further units.
Also in the Knocknacarra area, one of Galway city’s most established developers, O’Malley Construction, is gearing up to release their final four-bedroom units in Maolchnoc.
O’Malley Construction also have a wonderful development in the heart of Claregalway village, with the final remaining three and four-bedroom homes at An Móinéar Buí.
Just off the Rahoon Road is Cul Gharrai a luxury development of 21 apartments which are close to completion with the remaining one bedroomed units priced at €345,000.
Moycullen, due to its easy commuting distance to Galway city, has also seen an increase in new developments, including the next phase of Bun na Coille estate on the Spiddal Road, which is being constructed by Agrimac and will come on stream in the coming months.
The new homes are built to a high, sustainable standard, which is super energy-efficient, making it easier on the pocket.
