In October 2025, Calasanctius College students staged their annual musical, ‘All Shook Up’, a high-energy jukebox musical, based on Elvis Presley’s hit songs.
The story is set in a conservative 1950s town, where rules control the townspeople’s everyday life. However, everything changes when a young guitar-playing roustabout named Chad rides into town on his motorcycle, and ‘shakes things up’ with music, freedom and self-expression.
The Nano Nagle Hall was packed for three nights, with members of the local community filing in each evening to watch the show.
Some cast members got the opportunity to go to the Galway Bay FM studio and talk about the musical and promote it. They spoke about their roles in the show, the hard work that went on behind the scenes, and how exciting it was to be part of such a big production. Student cast members included Cathal Kelly as Chad, Olivia Gander as Natalie, James Johnstone as Jim, Emily Cotter as Sylvia, Amy Logan as Lorraine, Lauren Gander as Mayor Matilda, Luke Kerrigan as Dean and Adam Healy as Sheriff Earl.
The musical has been a core event in our school for many years with recent performances including Grease (2024 ), Mamma Mia (2023 ) and Sister Act (2022 ). It is a very enjoyable team-building event for us, giving us a chance to showcase our skills, and it brings the whole school community together.
The cast want to give a huge thank you to the photographers, Paul Connaughton and Darach Glennon, for truly capturing the magic of this year's musical. Their stunning photos reflect perfectly the energy, talent, and hard work that came from all the students involved. Many thanks to Paul Kelly from Indigo Lighting and Alan Dunne Sound for creating the perfect mood and making every moment of this year’s musical shine.
The cast also offers their deepest appreciation to Ms Quinn and Ms Harkin for their amazing efforts in organising this year’s musical. Their hard work, dedication, and guidance helped make the production a true success.
Finally, the musical couldn’t have happened without Director, Caroline Cawley, for guiding this year’s musical with passion and creativity. Her leadership, dedication, and encouragement brought out the best in every student and made the entire production a truly unforgettable experience.
Roll on next year.
