Clarin College of Athenry's musical performance of 'Shrek Junior' was a massive success, receiving stellar reviews and standing ovations each evening.
The musical is a fixture in the TY calendar, giving the entire year group an opportunity to work together. All students contribute through performing, creating props and backdrops, advertising, and helping backstage.
Laura Broderick starred as Princess Fiona, with Robert Pate playing the part of Shrek. Brian Maher played the noble steed that is Donkey. Darragh McVeigh delivered a hilarious performance of Lord Farquaad while Rebecca Doyle brought the character of the Dragon to life.
Young Fiona and Teen Fiona were performed by Erin Finnerty and Victoria Kreczko respectively. Mama, Papa and Baby Ogre were played by Holly McLaughlin, Sean Marlowe and Mickey Joe Regan. Oisin Taylor was the Bishop.
The production involved a huge cast of dancers, musicians and singers, as well as a backstage team and sound board technician. The Clarin College students wish to thank the team of teachers in Clarin College who helped to put their show together - the director, musical director, those who helped with choreography, set design, costumes and advertising the show. They also want to say a word of gratitude to everyone who came along each evening.
