Young artists explore ‘the feels’

If curious about how we express passion, and what it really ‘feels’ like, students from Galway Community College are ready to show you.

Arts students from the Further Education school in Moneenageisha will stage a multimedia exhibition More Than a Feeling at Monroe’s, next Wednesday, December 10, at 7pm.

Passion is never just one thing, so the college’s Theatre, Film, and Music students have explored this theme, especially how it merges into excitement, fire, heartbreak, obsession, joy, and everything in between.

Their mission was to craft a late-night show at Monroe’s which captures the full spectrum of passion through monologues, music, and montage.

Theatre students delve into dramatic speeches that reveal passion in all its forms : ambition that burns too bright, desire that spirals, devotion pushed to extreme, and the inner fire that can save or destroy. These writers desire to understand the core of intensity.

Film students took to the streets of Galway to collect real voices and real emotions. Their montage looks at what people chase, fear, remember, and dream when passion takes hold – those moments when life feels sharper and more alive.

Music students created their own arrangements of songs pulsing with emotion, across several genres. Featured artists include John Grant, Taylor Swift, Frank Sinatra, Janis Joplin, Maroon 5 and My Chemical Romance.

More Than a Feeling, is a free night of original film, live music, and raw theatre at Monroe’s, next Wednesday, December 10, at 7pm.
