Monroe’s Live is championing the best of Irish singer-songwriters on Thursday, September 25th with a triple headliner of Laura Jo, David Hope and Moon Looks On.
North Longford native Laura Jo is a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
With performances in over 40 countries and collaborations with stars like Sharon Shannon and Charlie McGettigan, her career to date includes major festival appearances, and an upcoming EP in 2026.
Having a powerful voice and skilled on tenor banjo, guitar, mandolin, and piano, her single ‘Places’ led to support slots with Roisin O, The Tumbling Paddies, and JigJam while her follow-up, ‘Bright Eyes’ was met with critical success.
Clare singer-songwriter David Hope is known as one of Ireland’s most powerful and consistent live performers, playing over 200 shows a year across Europe.
His fifth studio album …and the Sea was produced in a live-style approach to create a late-night intimacy throughout.
He has toured extensively across Ireland and Europe, collaborating with respected musicians along the way. His music continues to evolve from his earlier work, Tough Love (2017 ) and Scarecrow (2013 ).
Performing as Moon Looks On, Stephen Gormley is fast becoming a standout voice in modern folk alongside Matthew Hurrell O’Connor.
His album, Way Out West, is brimming with contemporary folk and roots music, displaying a finger-picking melodic style that is driven by his lyrics.
Written in a converted barn in South Sligo, Moon Looks On is continually inspired by natural surroundings and the appeal of the sea.
With influences ranging from old school jazz to the Rolling Stones, Tracy Chapman to Sharon Shannon, Way Out West comes on the heels of the acclaimed Razor Wire Skies.
Following appearances at Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, All Together Now, 2000 Trees Festival, and The Ruby Sessions to name but a few, his fusion of roots and folk music is making waves.
These three Irish talents gracing Monroe’s Live will play in the intimate surrounds of the Backstage venue on Thursday, September 25, with doors open at 7pm.
