Floating Barrio combine European and South American sounds

Magnetti’s Italian restaurant and pizzeria in Salthill will be hosting live music every Friday evening from 7pm to 9pm.

The waterfront eatery’s in-house band, Floating Barrio, is anchored by a musical duo performing an eclectic mix of styles including Cuban boleros, tango, and gypsy jazz.

This is a rare opportunity in Galway to hear the hauntingly expressive sound of the Argentinian bandoneón, an instrument not dissimilar to an Irish concertina, but tuned for the tango.

Jazz is plucked from a manouche guitar, the assertive French instrument made popular by Django Reinhardt.

The floating Barrio will be blending Latin American and European traditions through original acoustic arrangements, every Friday evening, from 7pm.
