Singer-songwriter David San Clair will brings his fusion of folk, rock, traditional music, jazz and bluegrass to Galway this weekend.
The Drogheda man plays Monroe’s tomorrow, Friday, August 15, at 7.30pm.
Since the release of his debut EP, Anything Goes, he has carved out a style that draws from the likes of Shakey Graves, Radiohead, Alex G, and Irish favourites such as Mic Christopher, Glen Hansard, and Damien Rice.
His approach to song-writing brings together the introspective storytelling of folk, with energetic melodies, inspired by early and late-Nineties alternative and folk genres.
The Drogheda artist has already shared stages with respected acts including The Stunning, Mundy, The Blades, David Keenan, and Junior Brother.
His reputation for compelling live performances has earned him slots at festivals including Altogether Now and inclusion in Whelan’s Ones to Watch showcases of 2024 and 2025.
Raised in rural countryside, he credits his upbringing with shaping his musical voice. Time spent in nature and the quiet pace of life gave him the space to explore his creativity from an early age.
Upon moving to Dublin for college, he began reflecting on the contrasts between city and country, and they are the themes which continue to surface in his lyrics.
For San Clair, the countryside remains his preferred setting to write, offering the peace and time needed to produce thoughtful work.
This is a unique opportunity to catch this exciting artist at Monroe’s Tavern this Friday, August 15, at 7:30pm.
