Ready, set, bake - the deadline for entries to the National Brown Bread Making Competition is 11am tomorrow (Friday ).

Galway entries to the competition, which is sponsored by Euronics in association with the NPA and ICA, will be collected from Joyce's Hardware & Home, Galway Road, Headford, between 9am and 11am tomorrow.

No brown bread will be accepted after 11am.

Eight finalists will be selected from entries across the country to take to the brown bread stage at the National Ploughing Championships, running from September 16 to 18, with one baker being crowned champion. A €5,000 cash prize and a NEFF Slide & Hide oven worth more than €2,000 is up for grabs in the competition. But if your brown bread is not in it - it cannot win it.

Bakers across the country have spent the last few weeks perfecting their brown bread ahead of tomorrow's deadline. If your brown bread is a cut above the rest, drop a loaf into Joyce's Hardware & Home in Headford before 11am tomorrow.
