Latin beats back the West this weekend

One of Galway’s newest Latin music bands, Los Wachos, will perform at Monroe’s Live this Friday, July 11, at 9pm.

Taking to the main stage, the group brings together styles and influences from across Latin America and beyond, with the smooth vibes of reggae, the upbeat energy of Ska with their energetic fusion of Latin rhythms.

Formed in Galway, the band features Irish bassists and drummers, Spanish violinists and accordionists, a Brazilian percussionist, an Argentinian saxophonist, and a Chilean guitarist and lead vocalist.

Their collective sound aims to bring the vibrant soul of Latin music to their audience.

Since their formation, Los Wachos have performed regularly in Galway’s bars and built a dedicated following.

“Over the past two years, we’ve been actively performing in various pubs around Galway,” they say. “We strive to not only entertain, but also to connect with our audience, reminding our Latino friends of our rich cultural heritage while offering a new musical experience to the Irish community.

“Monroe’s will be a night of fun, laughter, and celebration of Latin culture.”
