Crannóg remembers Maeve Joyce-Crehan

Galway’s international literary magazine, Crannóg, will publish its 62nd issue during the Cúirt Festival of Literature this week.

This issue features the work of many Galway-based writers, and is dedicated to the memory of Maeve Joyce-Crehan, late of The Crane, on Sea Road where Crannóg holds its issue launches.

There are short stories by Moya Roddy and by Anouk Kupiec, and there poems by Tracy Gaughan, Patrick Deeley, Bern Butler, Annie Deppe, Theodore Deppe, and Áine Rose Connell.

Crannóg is published by Wordsonthestreet and appears biannually.

Each issue features around 10 short stories and 35 poems, plus an interview with an author on their writing life. Front covers of Crannóg are famous for showcasing the work of visual artists.

Each year, the Crannóg editors nominate three poets for the prestigious Forward Prize in Britain, and nominate three poets and three fiction writers for the Pushcart Prize in the US. In addition, one contributor to each issue of Crannóg is granted a bursary of €1,500, sponsored by the poet Marian Kilcoyne.

Crannóg also runs the long-established Galway Writers’ Workshop. It is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and by Galway City Council.

Copies are €10 from bookshops or see www.crannogmagazine.com
