This bank holiday weekend, Monroe's Live will showcase a feast of music, from world sounds to rebellious Irish trad, and a fresh twist on New Year's Eve.

On Friday, January 31, Sligo-based ensemble NoCrows will take the stage for a mix of trad, rumba, classical, jazz, rock, and Balkan music. Doors open at 8pm for this fully seated performance.

Formed in 2005, NoCrows has grown into a six-piece world music fusion, featuring musicians from Ireland, Siberia, Switzerland, and Mallorca. The line-up includes rock fiddler and long standing member of The Waterboys, Steve Wickham, who made his recording debut with U2 on their album War.

Members also include Anna Houston on cello, mandolin, and vocals; Eddie Lee on bass and vocals; Felip Carbonell on guitar and vocals; Oleg Ponomarev on violin and Ray Coen on guitar, fiddle, and vocals.

If you missed ringing in the New Year with your friends, the New Year’s Eve Re-Run takes place on Friday, January 31.

DJ Corey’s 'Just Because' event kicks off at 11pm, recreating the magic of New Year’s Eve, complete with a midnight countdown and celebratory cannons. The concept takes inspiration from a tradition she started in Birmingham over two decades ago.

On Saturday, February 1, Shillelagh Law brings their fusion of Irish trad to Monroe’s Backstage.
